Pan Pacific Singapore and Valerie Ng proudly present “Abstract Trails”.
Charting adventures through expressions in paint and beyond.
Explore the artworks that navigate 21 years of abstract pathways, from mark-making to pixels, featuring oil paintings, works on papier-mâché and digital art.
In her 10th solo exhibition, the artist traces her creative journey via an interplay of colour, gestural strokes, and texture. Influenced by abstract expressionism, inspired by the natural elements, and experimenting with augmented reality, she invites you to discover how each piece creates an evolving experience with nature and abstraction.

Paintings in Exhibition
Showcasing a range of artworks spanning from recent years to the past two decades, since her debut solo exhibition in 2004. The exhibition will feature pieces from different series, illustrating the evolution of a painting practice within the realm of abstract expressionism. Each artwork will highlight various aspects of exploration, from geometric linework and mark making, to the interplay of colour, texture, and layers, ultimately transitioning to more expansive and fluid strokes. Including recent experiments in generative AR digital art.
Themes of rhythm, pattern, light, mood, and movement will permeate the collection, inviting viewers to contemplate the underlying complexities of the chaos theory, the cyclical nature of seasons, earth’s topography, along with the elemental forces of nature. Recalling growth, as a way to evoke a sense of rewilding in a return to a natural state of being, surrounded by creativity - as viewers journey along abstract trails.
ARTIST BIO
Valerie Ng’s abstract oil paintings are created through explorations in colour, form and texture. A dynamic balance of strokes through gestural expressions of mood and movement on the surface. Drawing inspiration from the natural elements, the works envisage an atmospheric feel.
She continues to transform the same energy of unique mark making through mixed media works influenced by organic materials in the environment. As well as combining eco and digital art using recycled paper-mache artworks with generative art and augmented reality as ways to evoke a digital experience.
Her paintings have been exhibited at the Singapore Art Museum and the National Art Gallery, Malaysia. She has had solo exhibitions at the UOB Art Gallery, Maya, Mulan, the Substation and former Wetterling Teo Gallery, as well as group exhibitions at 39+ Art Space, ultrasupernew, One East Asia, instinc and Jendela Gallery at the Esplanade.
